Workato integration services and enterprise iPaaS delivery

We build on Workato as an integration platform as a service, and we deliver MuleSoft and Boomi where the architecture calls for them. Our Workato integration team covers strategy and API design, recipe development, ERP and CRM integration, EDI and partner onboarding, AI agent integration with proper guardrails, and integration managed services once it is live.

What an integration programme has to cover

  • An interface inventory you can actually trust
  • Reusable APIs instead of bilateral links
  • Platform choice made on evidence
  • Recipe and flow build with version control
  • EDI and trading-partner onboarding
  • Scoped credentials for every AI agent
  • Monitoring, alerting and run support
The problem

Point-to-point integration is the problem, not the platform

Almost every estate we assess has the same shape: dozens of bilateral connections nobody documented, built by whoever needed the data that quarter. A file drop here, a nightly database link there, a middleware job someone wrote in 2016 and left. The count grows faster than the system count, because each new application has to be wired to everything it touches individually.

That is why an integration platform bought as another connector is money wasted. The value of an iPaaS is not that it adds a cleaner way to build the next interface — it is that it lets you retire the previous forty. A reusable interface layer means one canonical customer record, one order event, one stock-level API, consumed by everything that needs it. Change the ERP and you change one side of one contract, not every consumer downstream.

So we start with the inventory, not the licence. What interfaces actually exist, what data each one moves, which are duplicates, which are dead, and which are load-bearing without anyone realising. That assessment is a deliverable you own, and it is what makes the platform decision arguable rather than asserted.

Undocumented bilateral linksDozens of connections with no owner, no monitoring and no idea what breaks if one stops
Every change is a projectA field added in the ERP means touching every consumer, because nothing sits behind a contract
Silent failuresNightly jobs that fail without alerting, discovered when finance queries a number days later
Agents on shared service accountsAI agents granted broad credentials because scoping them properly was never designed in
What we deliver

Integration services across the full lifecycle

From interface strategy through build to run. Delivered under our CMMI Level 3 framework with ISO 27001 certified information security.

Integration strategy and API design

The architecture decisions that determine whether the platform pays back: what becomes a reusable API, what stays a file transfer, and what should not be integrated at all.

  • Interface inventory, ownership and dependency mapping
  • Canonical data model and event definitions
  • API-led layering: system, process and experience
  • Error handling, replay and idempotency standards

iPaaS platform selection

A scored comparison against your own estate rather than a vendor shortlist. We deliver Workato, MuleSoft and Boomi, so the recommendation is not decided by what we happen to resell.

  • Requirements weighted by volume, latency and protocol
  • Who will build and own flows: business teams or engineers
  • Total cost across connectors, tasks and environments
  • Exit and portability assessment before you commit

Workato build and recipe development

Workato is business-led automation at speed. We build recipes, connections and callable jobs with the discipline of software: versioned, reviewed, tested and promoted through environments.

  • Recipe development, callable recipes and reusable connections
  • Custom connectors via the connector SDK where no connector exists
  • Environment strategy, lifecycle management and version control
  • Workato consulting and enablement so your team can extend it

MuleSoft API-led delivery

MuleSoft remains the stronger choice for API-led global programmes and complex enterprise architecture. Where that is the shape of the problem, we say so and build it there.

  • API specification first, with design and reuse governance
  • System, process and experience API layers
  • Policies, rate limiting and gateway configuration
  • Migration of legacy middleware onto managed APIs

Boomi integration and data activation

Boomi has moved its own positioning from integration to data activation, and in May 2026 shipped a managed Model Context Protocol service connecting assistants including Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT Enterprise and Copilot to over a thousand enterprise tools.

  • Process build, deployment and Atom or cloud runtime setup
  • Managed MCP service configuration and tool scoping
  • Master data and data-quality flows
  • Migration from legacy Boomi processes to current patterns

ERP, CRM and HRMS integration

The integrations that carry the business: order to cash, procure to pay, hire to retire. Built as contracts between systems so either side can be replaced later.

  • ERP CRM integration across SAP, Oracle, Dynamics and Salesforce
  • HRMS and payroll interfaces with joiner, mover and leaver events
  • Warehouse, logistics and transport system interfaces
  • Finance postings reconciled line by line, not assumed

EDI integration and partner onboarding

Trading-partner integration in the formats logistics and supply chain actually run on, with onboarding treated as a repeatable process rather than a bespoke project each time.

  • EDIFACT messages including COPRAR and CODECO
  • AS2, SFTP and REST or JSON API endpoints
  • XML and flat-file mapping with validation
  • Partner onboarding packs, test cycles and certification

AI agent integration with guardrails

An AI agent holding a broad service account is an unbounded blast radius. Workato's Agent Studio, its July 2026 Headless API and Agent Guardrails, and Boomi's managed MCP service are all answers to that same problem — and they only work if the credentials are scoped in the first place.

  • Scoped credentials per agent and per action, never shared service accounts
  • Agent Guardrails, data-protection and access controls configured deliberately
  • Agents embedded into existing application surfaces via headless APIs
  • Human approval steps on anything that writes to a system of record

Integration managed services and monitoring

Most integration estates fail quietly. Run support exists so a broken interface raises an alert rather than a query from finance three days later.

  • Monitoring, alerting and error queues with named owners
  • L1 to L3 support under agreed service levels
  • Connector and platform release management
  • Interface change backlog reviewed monthly

An even-handed read, not a ranking. MuleSoft is genuinely stronger for API-led enterprise architecture and reuse governance; Workato is genuinely stronger for business-led automation at speed. Analysts project the iPaaS market to exceed $17 billion by 2028, so expect all three to keep moving — we re-examine platform choices at each assessment rather than defaulting to last year's answer.

How we deliver

From interface inventory to a layer you can change safely

Each stage ends in an artefact you own and can take elsewhere if you choose.

01

Inventory

We map every interface that exists, what it moves, who depends on it and what is duplicated or dead. Most estates have more than anyone expects.

02

Design

Canonical data model, event and API contracts, error and replay standards, and a scored platform recommendation with the reasoning shown.

03

Build

Recipes, flows or APIs built with version control, peer review and automated tests, promoted through environments rather than edited in production.

04

Retire

The point of the programme: point-to-point links switched off one by one as consumers move onto the reusable layer, with rollback available at each step.

05

Run

Integration managed services under agreed service levels, with monitoring, error queues and a change backlog reviewed monthly.

Questions we get

Workato and enterprise integration, answered

What are Workato integration services?
Workato integration services cover the work around the platform: interface strategy and API design, recipe and connection development, custom connectors where none exists, environment and release management, EDI and partner onboarding, and ongoing run support. We build on Workato rather than reselling it, and the same team delivers MuleSoft and Boomi, so the platform recommendation comes from your estate rather than from a single product line.
Workato, MuleSoft or Boomi — which should we choose?
It depends on who builds and what you are building. Workato is stronger for business-led workflow automation across SaaS applications and gets to a first working automation fastest. MuleSoft is stronger for API-led enterprise architecture, reuse governance and complex global programmes. Boomi now positions itself around data activation and shipped a managed Model Context Protocol service in May 2026 for connecting AI assistants to enterprise tools. We score all three against your volumes, protocols and team before recommending.
Why is point-to-point integration a problem if each link works?
Because the count compounds. Each new system has to be wired individually to everything it touches, so the number of connections grows faster than the number of systems, and each one is a separate thing to document, monitor and change. Adding a field in the ERP then means touching every consumer. A reusable interface layer replaces that with contracts: one canonical record or event, consumed by many, changed in one place.
How long does an iPaaS implementation take?
As a planning range, expect four to eight weeks for the interface inventory, design and platform decision, and first production interfaces live six to sixteen weeks from start depending on how many systems are involved and how clean the data is. Retiring a legacy point-to-point estate runs alongside for several months after. Data quality and the number of trading partners move the timeline more than the platform does.
How do you keep AI agents from becoming a security problem?
By scoping credentials per agent and per action instead of handing an agent a shared service account, which is what turns a mistake into an unbounded blast radius. Workato added a Headless API and Agent Guardrails in July 2026 so agents can be embedded in any application surface with data protection and access controls around them, and Boomi's managed MCP service addresses the same concern. Both still depend on the access design underneath, plus human approval on anything that writes to a system of record.
Do you support EDI and trading-partner integration?
Yes. We work with REST and JSON APIs, XML, flat files and EDIFACT messages including COPRAR and CODECO, over AS2 and SFTP as well as API endpoints, in event-driven and near-real-time patterns where the process needs them. Partner onboarding is run as a repeatable process with onboarding packs, test cycles and certification rather than as a bespoke project for each partner.
Can we hire integration consultants rather than a full project?
Yes. We place integration engineers, iPaaS developers and integration architects into your team on a staff augmentation basis, working to your standards and your backlog. Some clients use that model to build internal capability alongside a delivery programme, and others use it to keep an existing estate running while permanent hiring catches up.
What does integration managed services cover?
Monitoring and alerting on every interface, error queues with named owners, L1 to L3 support under agreed service levels, connector and platform release management, and a change backlog reviewed monthly. The reason it matters is that integration estates fail quietly — the common failure mode is a nightly job that stops without anyone noticing until a number looks wrong days later.
